Answer:

Nikon Coolpix S5100 does NOT have orientation sensor.
It only rotates pictures with a recognized human face.

I have my camera on flash, but the picture quality is always dark, even in bright areas. This happens even with the special settings under the scene key. I'm not sure what to do with the camera to fix it. if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Please reset the camera to default settings:
Go to MENU > Setup > Reset All

If the problem persists you will need to send your camera for service.

I brought a Nikon S5100 and I am very satisfied with it. However, I am frustrated because I cannot see the battery status of the camera. Is there a way that I can get this info about the camera? And how?

Does Coolpix S5100 have orientation sensor to automatically rotate not only human portrait pictures but pictures with a portrait / vertical position?
Not only human faces but anything shot in a vertical setting?

Answer:

Images captured using face detection will be rotated and displayed automatically according to the orientation of the faces detected; in full frame playback mode (excluding images captured using Continuous, BSS and Multi-Shot 16. Also, you can change the image orientation after taking the picture using the Rotate Image feature.

Hi,

My Camera hangs when I try to record video and then it switches off by itself. This happens randomly sometimes. When I try to see the last recoding then some message comes like "This files contains no images....."
I have memory card of 4Gb.
Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

I've got the following answer from the manufacturer of the bundled software.
Is this true?
Really, is it impossible to make a panorama image from a video with this camera?

"As consulted with our technical support, we are sorry that your program version can't support video files. Your program is bundled with Nikon device and can't support video files as the Nikon requested."

The maximum file size for a single movie is 4GB or the maximum movie length for a single movie is 29 minutes, even when there is sufficient free space on the memory card for longer recording.

The images on the camera itself are great, but after I upload them to my computer, some of the images have discoloring, as if they had a problem uploading.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera driver, I've also tried using different ways to upload the images, but nothing has worked...

My computer runs on Windows Vista.
