I use 67mm filters, which are threaded. I did a search of other photography forums and sites and found a number of references to threading on the front of the Nikon 77mm filters for attachment of additional filters. While I don't see where that would necessarily allow for a screw-in hood I guess you could assume it could work. Just be careful about cross-threading. If I learn anything more of that capability I'll post it here.
