My Favorite Accessory
This is my favorite accessory. I carry a tripod and this cable to use when conditions allow - no people around; no wind - to enable long range telephoto shots and dim light shots. This shutter release cable is perfect for my D5100: easy connection, easy and smooth operation. But get acquainted with the movement of the switch. Note that it does not operate the video since that is a separate firing mechanism.

Answer:
MC-DC2 won't work with you D3s, to use this you need a special port which D3S doesn't have(Nikon is making too much kind of Remote Release Cord, giving muti body user a big headache, please fix this Nikon)
Another solution to the problem. Is to use a GPS logger or install a GPS logging software in a smartphone with build in GPS(this will use a lot of the power in the smartphone), then export the data and input the data back to the Photo with ViewNX2, but in the case you need to make sure you camera TIME data is correct to sec.(can be done with Nikon Transfer time Synchronize function)
I have recently purchased a Nikon D7000. Which would be most useful as a cable release---ML-L3, wireless remote or a MC-DC2-remote cord?

Answer:
If you’re going to use the camera in "bulb" you'll need the MC-DC2 remote cord in order to keep the shutter press and to prevent blur. The ML-L3 you can use it for self portraits (the remote has to be in front of the camera).11 months ago
